Myakka is available now in three configurations to play private office parties, holiday parties, weddings, parades, and milestone celebrations of all kinds where live music would add panache and class to your event. We can produce the muscular, bluesy, danceable sounds of the Rolling Stones or Creedence Clearwater/John Fogerty, as well as the precision of the Beatles, the high lonesome sound of a traditional bluegrass band, some twangy country and rockabilly, or the whimsy of John Prine, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.
Myakka has played often at the Old Packinghouse Cafe, Barnie’s, Snook Haven, all 6 of the Sarasota Folk Festivals, Oscar Scherer State Park (S.P.), Myakka S.P., Crowley Museum, The Banana Factory, South Florida Museum, Lake Manatee S.P., Olympia Theatre, and various venues from private parties to festivals. We are very flexible, and committed to meeting your musical tastes, budget, event and venue requirements.
- Electric Myakka classic rock dance band – a full 4-piece rock band playing music from the 1950s to the present – classic lineup of lead and rhythm guitar, bass and drums. We play everything from classic rock to R&B and blues, and can tailor our setlist specifically to your needs and personal tastes. The music is high-energy and eminently danceable!
- Myakka bluegrass 4-piece – Brad (guitar and vocals) Lisa (banjo), plus James Kushner (bass and vocals) and Scott Blum (drums and percussion). Bluegrass, including original blazing bluegrass compositions by Lisa. Songs of Bill Monroe, John Prine, Hank Williams, Norman Blake, Ralph Stanley, Hot Rize, Johnny Cash, The Mavericks, and traditional folk and bluegrass.
- Myakka bluegrass/Americana duo – Brad (acoustic and/or electric guitar) and Lisa (5-string banjo and electric bass) – Bluegrass, folk-rock, soft rock including John Prine, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Warren Zevon, John Hiatt, Norman Blake, Kingston Trio, and original bluegrass and folk songs, to name some of the music we play.
Gear – We have 3 complete sets of high-end speakers and amplifiers to cover all needs, from intimate, acoustic living room gigs (50 Watts) to large park/lawn outdoor setups (up to 4,000 Watts), such as our numerous gigs at Oscar Scherer and Myakka State Parks.
